What Causes Blood Blisters
Blood blisters are more common for patients as they get older, and they are caused by an issue in the blood vessels of the lower lip, where blood pools instead of flows through the vessel, enlarging the affected vein. Depending on the size and nature of the blood blister, our dentist may be able to offer a gentle and effective laser thread vein treatment to help heal the blister.
How Does Laser Treatment Work?
Because our office uses precision dental lasers, blood blister treatments in Durango, Colorado, typically do not require any anesthesia, though our dentist may offer numbing cream for the area if you would like. Our dentist will use the laser to direct energy at and damage the problem vessels, which will shrink, begin to shrivel up and eventually disappear. The blood will be redirected into healthier, deeper blood vessels.
You will begin to see a difference after your first session, but we recommend two to three sessions a little more than a month apart for full results. After about 10 days, the blood blister will be fully healed.
